STATEMENT FROM PROJECT SCHOLARS BOARD PRESIDENT PAUL ROUNTREE REGARDING THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 2020 PIG ON THE POND
Project Scholars, the nonprofit parent organization and host of Pig on the Pond Community Festival, announced the postponement of the annual event, scheduled for March 6-8, 2020, at Waterfront Park, in Clermont. The event was postponed after the recent withdrawal of the event planner due to unexpected personal circumstances. The Project Scholars board voted to postpone the 2020 event due to lack of time to prepare for the three-day event, which includes live entertainment, carnival rides, fireworks and more.
Project Scholars Board President Paul Rountree said that Pig on the Pond, which is the major fundraiser for the organization’s scholarships, will return March 5-7, 2021. He said that thanks to reserve funds, all of the current students receiving scholarships will continue to do so. He added that the board is in the process of receiving applications in order to award four new, four-year scholarships this spring.
“We regret having to postpone this event and apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment,” Rountree said. “We look forward to hosting Pig on the Pond Community Festival in 2021.”
